The better we control our environments and wash our hands, the better we prevent novel coronavirus (COVID-19) from spreading. However, ‘canceled’ likely comes with frustration for families who need educational assistance or are in the process of getting their child tested for a learning disability. That’s why I want to let parents know that educational testing in Santa Clarita is not canceled. The same goes for your child’s education.
I have been an educational psychologist in Santa Clarita Valley for more than 20 years, and my background as a school psychologist aids me in helping parents navigate school systems as they try to get their students help. I hope I can provide some comfort and assistance during these irregular days. I am available to aid you and your child with difficulties stemming from learning struggles, ADHD, and developmental delays. I am also continuing with giftedness and educational testing in Santa Clarita. My colleagues here at Compassionate Solutions are also available for tutoring to ensure that your child’s learning momentum does not suffer in these uncertain times.
Getting Your Child Assessed
If you’re thinking about having your child tested for a learning disability, now is a good time. By choosing to have your child’s educational assessment done by a private office, you can decide if you want the results given to the school and you won’t have to wait on the school to hear the results.
Seeking Help in the Case of School Closures
As schools close, there are countless logistical items parents need to figure out, from taking work off to creating a schedule for potential online schoolwork. I am available to help you and your child figure out how to work independently at home. Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, ADHD or learning disabilities may find it especially difficult to define new routines. I am happy to help your family work through these things. When it comes to helping your student with their schoolwork, you do not need to feel helpless.
Being Conscientious of Health
We are located in a single-dwelling house, making our offices safe, comfortable and welcoming. Your child’s testing will be done one-on-one, not in a group, and you won’t need to go to a medical building. At Compassionate Solutions, we are also taking extra precautions by not providing our usual coffee, toys, or candy in our waiting room.
Counseling and test result discussions can be done remotely via tele-health to make the process even more convenient.
